During the professional development Student Challenge Orientation, hosted and curated by Games for Change, participants will engage in the exciting process of developing a mock digital board game. This event offers educators an opportunity to collaborate with peers and experts in the field of educational gaming, learn about the principles of game design and their application in an educational context, create a functional prototype of a digital board game that can be used to enhance student engagement and learning, and incorporate feedback from mentors and peers to refine and improve their game design. This hands-on experience will not only enhance participants' understanding of game-based learning but also provide them with practical skills they can apply in their classrooms, bridging the gap between play and pedagogy.
