Smithsonian Science Education Center Internship Program, Educator Intern 06/30/2025 - 02/14/2026
Project Title: Smithsonian Science Curriculum Development Internship for Educators
Project Description: Overall, this internship aims to provide an opportunity for current classroom teachers to learn about curriculum development practices and processes by shadowing and participating in conceptualizing the approach and activities within a guide from the very beginning of the development process. Although SSEC staff will be doing all the writing, we will be guided by the decisions and perspectives within the intern co-hort.
UGAIN-Reading National Leadership Cohort member for Cohort Year 1,
As a cohort member of U-GAIN Reading, I will actively enhance literacy for young readers by participating in 1-hour cohort meetings and an additional hour of pre/post work every six weeks during Cohort Year 1 (April 2025 - April 2026). I will provide synchronous and asynchronous feedback to inform U-GAIN Reading's leadership and research agenda while collaborating with staff and Science of Reading advisors to co-design public-facing resources and events focused on using AI in early literacy. I will be compensated $100 per cycle, potentially earning up to $900, which includes a 1-hour virtual meeting and an hour of asynchronous work for each cycle.
